About Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is one of the forms of diabetes that people form. There are many things about this disease that you should know if you have been diagnosed with it. These things include expectations, insulin, factors, and much more.
Type 1 diabetes is often onset with children at young ages. Even though this is a factor it also can be diagnosed with an individual at any age in their lifetime. However the typical diagnosis is during adolescence or childhood. This type of diabetes means that a person is dependent upon insulin to survive. That is because the body’s pancreas is no longer functioning as it should be. The pancreas is supposed to create insulin naturally in the body. Insulin is used by the body to break down the sugar and convert it into energy. With type 1 diabetes a person’s pancreas may not be making any insulin at all or it may not be producing enough.
Type 2 diabetes is very different than type 1 because this type is not dependent upon insulin shots on a daily basis. The good news for people with this type is that they can make a few lifestyle changes and they can live a healthy life without the use of medication. The biggest problems occur during the holidays when families are decorating the Christmas trees and lighted palm trees and all of the sugar and sweets are out. You must maintain control over your sugar intake and you will be able to enjoy moments of decorating artificial Christmas trees.
There are many factors that can contribute to an onset of type 1 diabetes. These factors may include genetics and it may run in the family. If you were exposed to a particular virus then you may be susceptible to it. There is not a cure for type 1 diabetes and there is no way to control it without the use of insulin that is given through a shot. There is research being conducted about different ways to take insulin which even include inhaling methods. However, today the only proper way of taking insulin is through a needle approach.
Many people think that when they are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes they are going to die because it is a disease that doesn’t have a cure. Diabetes is a very expensive disease but it can actually be controlled with the appropriate treatment. You will be required to monitor your blood on a daily basis so you can manage the diabetes properly.
If you have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes then your lifestyle will change completely. You will have to completely change the way you eat and drink. You will have to change or get rid of many habits that are bad for your body. Type 1 diabetes is not curable but it is tolerable and will not kill you if you properly take care of your body the way you are told to by a doctor. You will also have to monitor your blood at every meal and have a dependence on insulin shots.
